FAQs:
Let’s Clear Things Up

Will I ever have to pay costs out of my own pocket?

Here at Seagray, we live by our no win, no fee promise.  If we don’t get you compensation, there’s absolutely nothing for you to pay. Simple as that.

When your claim succeeds, the compensation lands in our client account. From there, we deduct our agreed percentage (plus VAT), and the rest is yours to keep. Full transparency, no nasty surprises.

Now, a heads-up: if you choose to cancel your claim outside the 14-day cooling-off window, some costs might apply as outlined in our terms. Have more questions? Let’s chat.

What are your fees?

No upfront costs. No hidden charges. And if we don’t win, you don’t pay a penny. When we do get you some compensation? Our success fee is calculated based on your compensation—and it’s capped by our regulator to keep things fair. Here’s the breakdown:

Band Compensation (£) Max Fee (%) Max Fee (£)
1 1 – 1,499 30% 420
2 1,500 – 9,999 28% 2,500
3 10,000 – 24,999 25% 5,000
4 25,000 – 49,999 20% 7,500
5 50,000+ 15% 10,000

Please note: VAT applies at the current rate. If your lender offsets your compensation against outstanding debt, we’ll base our fee on the total awarded. Got questions? We’re all ears.

How can I speed up my claim?

The fast track to success? Details. Provide everything you can about your financial agreements. Policy documents, correspondence, proof of payments—anything you can. The more you share upfront, the quicker we can get things moving. However, a soft credit check is built into our systems and that can give us everything we need to progress your claim with just a couple of minutes of your time.

How long does a PCP claim take?

At the moment, the Financial Conduct Authority has paused certain claims until 4 December 2025.

Here’s the current timeline:

  • Unaffordability claims: Usually resolved in around 10 weeks if the lender plays ball. Some might take longer.
  • Undisclosed commission claims: A bit more complicated. These can take 12 months or more, depending on court involvement and lender cooperation.

Don’t worry, we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

What happens when my claim is settled?

First, we receive your compensation in our client account. Then, we deduct our fee and promptly transfer the rest to you. Easy.

What if my claim is unsuccessful?

No win, no fee means just that. If your claim doesn’t succeed, you won’t owe us a thing.

Can I cancel my claim?

Of course! You can cancel anytime. Within 14 days? No charge. After that, fees may apply for the work we’ve already done. Drop us a line at [email protected], and we’ll take care of it.

How do I start a claim?

Getting started is a breeze. Fill out our online enquiry form (coming soon) — we’ll handle the rest.

What documents do I need?

To get the ball rolling, we’ll ask you to complete a soft credit check. If you can provide it thought, it would be amazingly helpful if you can upload:

  • Your car finance agreement
  • Proof of payments
  • Correspondence with your finance provider

Sometimes we may need you to upload a valid ID (passport, driving license, or similar).

Not sure where to start? Check out the short videos here (coming soon) which explain everything.

Can I make a claim if another company rejected me?

Absolutely. Every case is unique, and we’re happy to reassess yours. Let’s explore what’s possible.

Why might I have a claim?

If you bought a car in finance between 2007 and 2001, there’s a good chance the dealership didn’t disclose the commission they received from your lender. That’s where we come in. It is estimated that billions could be owed to consumers like you. Let’s get what’s yours.

How much could I claim?

It depends on factors like your loan amount, interest rate, and the lender’s commission. On average, you could be owed more than £1,000, and it will only take five minutes of your time to let us get busy getting this back for you (with nothing to pay if we can’t get you the compensation).

Do I need a law firm to claim?

No. You can go solo or use a professional like us. With our expertise, we’ll handle the heavy lifting, saving you time and hassle but you can absolutely do it yourself if you’d prefer and the lenders and the Financial Ombudsman won’t charge you anything.
